Milano is the leading designer, manufacturer, and retailer of premium wigs made from the finest human hair.

 

Milano Wigs is a family-owned small business based in Long Beach that specializes in wigs for Jewish Orthodox women. Their conservative values are reflected in their branding materials, while also being fashion-forward to appeal to a wider demographic. Their main target audience is women with hair loss, as well as those interested in fashion. During my 3 years of working with Milano Wigs, I was responsible for designing their marketing materials, packaging, emails, and web assets. Additionally, I photographed new product launches and retouched images to maintain brand consistency.

Re-Branding

Milano Wigs sought to revamp their packaging to create a more modern and stylish appearance that would appeal to a wider demographic while maintaining their conservative values. The previous packaging had a dark aesthetic, and they aimed to transition to a more lively and welcoming design that reflected their new logo. Additionally, they wanted to enhance the overall consumer experience by conveying a luxurious and high-end feel through their rebranding efforts. As a designer, your task was to develop packaging designs that aligned with these goals.

Ultimate Comfort EdgeGrip

To maintain the high-end experience of the Milano brand, it was essential to create packaging for the Ultimate EdgeGrip that reflected the product's premium quality. The EdgeGrip was one of their top-selling items, along with their best-selling WiGrip, which helped consumers wear their wigs without fear of them falling off. Unlike the WiGrip, the EdgeGrip had baby hairs, which made the transition from the wig to natural hair seamless. To enhance the unboxing experience, the packaging was designed to be as luxurious and exciting as buying a thousand-dollar wig.

In addition to the new luxurious packaging, Milano Wigs wanted to add a personal touch to each order and express gratitude to their customers for entrusting them with their wig purchase. They included a thank-you note with each order, along with an incentive to share their experience and win a free gift. The note also informed customers that Milano offers hair services at their salon for both wig and non-wig customers, encouraged them to follow the brand on social media for updates, and provided information on the brand's return policy and contact information.

Furthermore, Milano wanted to educate their customers about who they are as a brand, their mission, their product offerings, and their location. This information was made readily available to those who wanted to know more about the brand.
