Meet The Owner | Chef Alina Cardenas

Alina, a native of The San Fernando Valley, has always had a passion for bringing people together through her baked goods. Having grown up in a large family, she has been inspired by the values of community and togetherness and seeks to create something that everyone can enjoy.

Proust Branding

Proustian Memory refers to the experience of sudden, involuntary memory recall triggered by a sensory stimulus. Alina approached me for help with branding her small baked goods business.

Proust Website

When designing Proust's website, the primary objective was to showcase the simplicity and beauty of her baked goods. The intention was to avoid overwhelming the consumer with unnecessary distractions and instead convey the essence of her sourdough creations in a visually captivating manner.

Business Cards

When it came to designing her business card, she had previously outsourced the creation of her logo to a different artist. She approached me to complete the project after her website was already finished. Just like with the website, she wanted the business card to highlight the beauty of the logo's curvature, symbolizing the inviting and soft texture of a sourdough's delicate bite.

Additionally, she aimed to incorporate a reference to the COVID-19 era on the card. To achieve this, she suggested adding a QR code on the back, allowing new customers to conveniently access her online store.

“The French author Marcel Proust (1871-1922) explored and reflected on the nature of sense memories in his work in In Search of Lost Time (À la recherche du temps perdu). In his view, sensory stimulations unlock lost memories, bring happiness, and fuel creativity.”
